萬向輪最初的專利權(quán)是為一個瑞典的發(fā)明者所擁有，而后賣給一個美國公司。美國海軍部于20世紀(jì)80年代至90年代初買斷其專利，通過改進(jìn)后用于船上的物料搬運(yùn)。在1996年，美國海軍部通過商業(yè)化的合作研究與開發(fā)協(xié)議(CRADA)，將此技術(shù)轉(zhuǎn)讓給Airtrax。從此，Airtrax通過對此系統(tǒng)的全面測試與再設(shè)計，采用新的觀點(diǎn)與技術(shù)，首次研發(fā)出了一系列實用，經(jīng)濟(jì)的萬向行走叉車與平板拖車。

Airtrax 是世界上第一臺商業(yè)生產(chǎn)的全向叉車 ATX-3000的最初設(shè)計者和開發(fā)商。

Airtrax 于 2000 年推出了這款令人驚嘆的汽車概念，并于 2005 年 9 月至 2006 年 3 月期間生產(chǎn)，并在 2008 年公司停止所有運(yùn)營之前將其推向市場。Airtrax 制作了其他幾種類型的車輛原型，包括高空作業(yè)平臺 COBRA 系列，但這些車輛都沒有生產(chǎn)或銷售過。

Vehicle Technologies, Inc. 于 2010 年根據(jù)許可恢復(fù) ATX-3000 的生產(chǎn)。并于 2013 年 6 月停產(chǎn)

SIDEWINDER 不再生產(chǎn)新產(chǎn)品，僅提供在二手叉車市場，或作為來自 Vetex 的翻新單元。

Vehicle Technologies 繼續(xù)為 SIDEWINDER 提供更換零件以及翻新二手機(jī)器。

The Omni-Directional wheel was originally patented by a Swedish inventor and sold to an American corporation.The patent was purchased by the US Navy and the technology was advanced for proposed material handling on ships during the 1980"s and early 1990"s.ln 1996 the Navy transferred this technology to Airtrax for commercialization through a Cooperative Research and development Agreement(CRADA).Since then Airtrax examind tested and redesigned every facet of the system.Using new ideas and technology,Airtrax has engineered commercial vehicles that are both practical and economical making Omni-directional products commercially viable for the first time．
